National Walk To School Week May 21st – 25th
Rathlee N.S. are working towards their fourth Green flag which is based on the travel theme. As part of this initiative we will participate in National Walk To School Week, May 21st – 25th where participating schools are encouraged to change their travel methods and use sustainable modes of transport such as their bike or walk to school if it is convenient and safe.
During walk to school week, starting May 21st, we would encourage parents, guardians and teachers to park ‘n’ stride, that is, to park the cars at Rathlee church at 9:15 a.m. and walk the rest of the journey to school with their child. During this week, Wednesday 23rd May 2012 is National WOW Day (Walk On Wednesday) where An Taisce are hoping to reach the target of 20, 000 people walking to school all over Ireland on that day.
We are encouraging WOW (Walk On Wednesdays) days to continue after the walk to school week through to June. Watch out for all those healthy children walking and cycling in the Rathlee area over the next few weeks !!
