Spring bulbs
We planted hyacinth bulbs on Thursday 26th of October. We look forward to watching these grow over the next couple of months.
Green Committee 2017-2018
We welcome our new members to the Greenschools Commitee. We are currently working towards our seventh Green flag Global Citizenship Energy. 4th – 6th classes have completed the Global citizenship awareness survey and we are currently analyzing the responses. The commitete have also been recording the schools meter reading every day since the beginning of October. This will tell us what our daily and monthly energy use is. Results will be displayed on our Green schools noticeboard.
Tidy Towns Competition 2017
Congratulations to the Tidy Towns Committee for all their hard work and this is rewarded by the overall appearance of the village The overall points received increased by 13 since last year. The contribution that our school makes to the village and environment is acknowledged .

“No greenflags were seen flying at the school so thank you for stating that there are no less than six awarded!
These are also for projects ‘invisible’ to us, so thank you for listing them, they are most impressive and heartiest congratulations the pupils, the teachers and the parents. Recycling of packaging,. adaptation of the school toilet system, collection of driftwood to create a bug hotel, involvement in the WEEE programme, are all admirable.
Good that the planters are created from recycled wood. It is very encouraging to see vegetables in the school garden.”

6th Green Flag for Rathlee N.S.
Rathlee N.S. are delighted to be awarded our 6th Green flag! Green flags are an international symbol of a school’s environmental sustainability and are awarded to schools for their efforts in reducing waste, conserving water and energy, promoting sustainable travel to school, biodiversity and Global citizenship. This 6th Green Flag has been awarded for Global Citzenship;litter and waste. Thank you to Ms. Harrison, Katie, Alan and Cian who attended the Awards Ceremony and collected the flag for us. A particular thank you to all the staff and pupils of Rathlee N.S. for working so hard. We are so proud of this achievement! Well done!
