Parents’ Association
Here at Rathlee National School, we have a well established and hard working Parents Association.
The parents association work with the principal, staff and board of management to build effective co-operation and partnership between home and school.
While all parents of pupils in our school are members of the parents association, our elected committee manage the responsibilities of the parents association of behalf of all the parents on a day to day basis.
The members of our Parents Association this year are:
- Chairperson: Marcella Gilroy
- Treasurer: Pauline Sweeney.
The Parents Association are entitled to raise funds for the administration and activities of the association. The Parents Association consult with the school board including the Principal, to identify the fund raising needs of the school. The board and Principal approve the fund raising initiative before the fund raising begins. Any funds raised are used for the purpose for which the money was collected.
To date the parents association have raised funds to subsidise activities such as payment of buses for school outings, the purchase of an interactive whiteboard, books for the school, educational shows and events at the school and visits from Santa each Christmas.
This year, the parents’ association raised 1600 euro through their annual Hallowe’en raffle. These funds will be used to pay for:
- Fred Corvenio’s Magic Show
- School outings to the Museum of Country Life in Castlebar and other educational school trips.
- A visit from the Heritage in Schools facilitator.
We greatly appreciate the contribution of the parents association to our school.
